Hello people:

First, I hope you are all coming up with something to do in the concert.  We are counting on you.
Next, I am getting desperate to find people who are willing to bring bags of cookies and cans of punch for our concert refreshments.  It was suggested I put the word out to you–that perhaps some of you could make some plans to help with refreshments.  Let me know if you can.  It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mary!

We arrived safely late last night (March 29th) after about 24 hours of traveling! Moving to the camp ground tommorrow (March 31st)  and getting ready to speak eight times over the next few days.  I don’t think I’ll have internet access after this email – where we are moving to. However, I wanted to say “hi” and say we are thinking of our church family back home! Many prayers!

A need for prayers

Good morning,

Valerie Bellas, along with Cavelle and Calvin will be travelling to New York on Thursday night.  They must renew their passports and there are other issues involved with their stay in the US.  We have been here before and we know that prayer will accomplish much!  Please pray for them!!

I have been forgetting to mention – Valerie’s school (Schabazz Public School Academy where she is Curriculum Director) had impressive gains in their MEAP tests this year.  100% on math and 93% on reading.  This was a huge improvement and as Valerie says “To God be the Glory”

See you Friday,
Mary

Friday Email

Good morning everyone,

Hasn’t it just been a wonderful spring week?  It’s too early to get out in the garden but I did clean out my Lenten Roses and they are blooming!!  The other early spring flowers cannot be far behind.

Pastor David & Tennille will be leaving for South Africa on Sunday.  He will be speaking in Johannesburg during their campmeeting.  Please pray for their safety and mission in S. Africa.  If you need assistance during the Pastor’s absence, please call Wilson Ndovie or one of our Elders.

Next Friday is our Good Friday Agape Feast.  Please mark your calendars to come.  We start with foot washing at 6:00 pm followed by communion.  Following dinner JoAnn Davidson will be speaking.   This is a special program you won’t want to miss.   Dr. Davidson will also be speaking at the 11:00 service on Sabbath.  There will also be a special musical program arranged by Gary Affholter on Sabbath afternoon.  A very spiritual weekend at the University Church.  Please join us!

The next Healthy Supper Club will be April 8 at 6:00 pm at the church.  Please park in the ramp.  Caleb Lee will be speaking.

This message is from Barbara Marchello:

All Sabbath sermons are copied on cds and available shortly after the end of each service.  They are placed in a small container on the podium in the foyer.  Please feel free to take one for your family.  They can be played in your car as you travel, shared with friends for bible study, or just to replay at home.  They have many uses in our Christian witnessing.  If you are moved to help support this service, you can do so by indicating an amount in your tithe envelope marked “Audio Visual.”

Barbara Marchello has available the eight sermons on the Beatitudes.  If you would like a set, please give her a call at 517-337-0272.   A short time back Pastor Shin preached a series of sermons on the book of Daniel.  These are also available at your request.

There is already a short note in the bulletin about receiving cd in the mail if you know someone who is unable to come to church and would be blessed by these cds.  Let us all participate in sharing God’s message with this cd ministry.  Thank you so much to those who are responsible for making these cds available.  Praise God as we work together as a family to share His Word.”

There will be a Scott Michael Bennett concert at Charlotte SDA Church tomorrow at 7:00pm.

We will be beginning a new believers class on April 3rd. Kevin Brooks will be leading out. It will be meeting in literature room in the basement. If you are newly baptized or studying to be baptized – this class is for you!

Pastor Shin’s quote of the week:

Our lifework here is a preparation for the life eternal. The education begun here will not be completed in this life; it will be going forward through all eternity—ever progressing, never completed. More and more fully will be revealed the wisdom and love of God in the plan of redemption. The Saviour, as He leads His children to the fountains of living waters, will impart rich stores of knowledge. And day by day the wonderful works of God, the evidences of His power in creating and sustaining the universe, will open before the mind in new beauty. In the light that shines from the throne, mysteries will disappear, and the soul will be filled with astonishment at the simplicity of the things that were never before comprehended.  {MH 466.2}

Join us this Sabbath as Steve Conway, our speaker from the series at MSU, will be sharing with us our Sabbath message.  Join us for worship and fellowship!

See you tomorrow,

Mary
