Good morning,
As many of you know there is a creek behind our house. Many years you will see blue herons. This year we have some ducks. Two male mallards and one female. They are attracted to the neighbor’s bird feeder. Our dog Molly, is not amused by the ducks. One afternoon they began pecking on the basement walkout window. She nearly got them! The feathers were flying. But they have now learned that she won’t come to the bird feeder and they just sit over there and quack to annoy her. No spiritual thought – just a spring story.
Last week was spring break and the Bellas family was in New York working on immigration/passport problems. Valerie writes: “Well after waking up at 4:00 in the morning and going down to the consulate in Manhattan, Monday morning the consulate was closed. However, the security at the place told us that we would have to come much earlier on Tuesday morning, so we woked up at 3 and left at 3:45 AM., and were numbers 25 and 26. Upon entering the building and seeing the consulate people, they told us that we should have gone to Washington! I said to myself “What a mess. ” Anyway they made us pay a money order of $30.00 to get the passport posted to us, so far we have not received it as yet. Please continue to pray for us.”
Our next special program will be our Mother’s Day program and potluck. Please remember that there will be no potluck on May 1. JoAnn Davidson will be the speaker for our Mother’s Day program on May 8. The men in the church will be in charge of the potluck with Jay and his crew of cooks making the famous “Aunt Betty’s Tacos”. Plan now to attend.
Elvy Rolle has a new address – 3612 Callihan Court, Lansing, 48910. The phone number remains the same.
Mick Firestone’s mom, Mary, requests prayer. Edna Walkup is at Sparrow Hosipital. Bill Clifford called and he is heading to South Korea for a year to teach in the English Language School. He is leaving for Seoul on Sunday.
Have you checked out the food pantry on the stage in the Fellowship Room. Our thanks to Janet Dillingham and her crew for setting it up. If you are in need of something from the pantry, please help yourself. This is to benefit our membership who may from time to time require a little assistance.

Sabbath School feature this week from Laura Heilig: ”As the spring rains fall, and tender buds bloom, let us stop to acknowledge God’s faithfulness in on display every single day. Every new morning is a gift from God, and a sign of His eternal presence. This Sabbath morning during the general Sabbath School Time, our students will be sharing testimonies about God’s faithfulness to them and their ministry. Bring your praises as bright blooms to share with your brothers and sisters in Christ. May all who attend be refreshed by the showers of blessing as a well watered garden.”
Quote of the Week:
Our plans are not always God’s plans. He may see that it is best for us and for His cause to refuse our very best intentions, as He did in the case of David. But of one thing we may be assured, He will bless and use in the advancement of His cause those who sincerely devote themselves and all they have to His glory. If He sees it best not to grant their desires He will counterbalance the refusal by giving them tokens of His love and entrusting to them another service. {MH 473.2}
Pastor David will be sharing this Sabbath on being the “salt” of the world! Join us for worship and fellowship!
See you tomorrow,
Mary
