July 23rd, 2010 | Posted in Blog | Comments OffGood morning,
I have totally lost interest in my garden. I’m tired of weeding and trying to keep the woods at bay. Luckily Robert Mosher doesn’t feel like I do. He has been working at the church this past week spreading mulch. Oscar Boismier, Jim Keeney, Bill Wilson and Kebede Daka also helped. Thanks to all of you to help make our church look so good.
Kaline Shaw is an Adventist graduate student who plans to attend MSU this fall. She will like to obtain housing with an Adventist family or roommate. If you or someone you know are interested in accomodating Kaline, please call her at 401-368 1688. Thanks.
Edna Walkup was transferred out to the Okemos Rehab Facility 5895 Marsh Rd. on Monday June 19th. She has the same room # 422 and her phone # is the same 1- 517 -319 -1522. She would appreciate your cards, visits and prayers.
Audio CDs are made each week of Pastor Shin’s sermon. These are available after the service in the foyer. They are a great to give away to your friends. If you would like to donate to this ministry, please put your donation in a tithe envelope marked CDs.
Pastor David will be out of town serving as the camp pastor at family at Camp AuSable in Graying, Michigan next week from July 25-August 1. If you have any visitation needs or church related items contact our head elder Wilson Ndovie at 327-2961
We will be having VBS at the University Church from August 9th-13th at 6pm. There will also be having a special feature on Sabbath, August 14th before the sermon time. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer – please contact Valarie Bellas at: 517-507-2424. We are so lucky that Valerie is willing to lead out in this evangelistic effort for our children. Please support her with volunteering, bringing children and your prayers.
Those who will be going to the nursing home on Sabbath afternoon, please bring a dish to pass for lunch. Hope you can join in this monthly ministry.
Quote of the Week:
The soul may ascend nearer heaven on the wings of praise. God is worshiped with song and music in the courts above, and as we express our gratitude we are approximating to the worship of the heavenly hosts. “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth” God. Psalm 50:23. Let us with reverent joy come before our Creator, with “thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.” Isaiah 51:3. {SC 104.1}
This Sabbath, Pastor David will be continuing in his series out of the book of Philippians. Join us for worship and fellowship!
I’m on vacation next weekend. Pastor David will be sending out the email.
Blessings,
Mary

I could use some help spreading 18 yards of compost at the church. If you have a wheelbarrow and can bring it great. But could use someone to shovel or rake or push the garden cart. An hour or two of help would be appreciated. Contact Robert Mosher 517 339 8010 or robertmosher1@comcast.net

July 16th, 2010 | Posted in Blog | Comments OffGood morning,
I was in a Hallmark card store last week and they were putting up the Christmas ornament display. That must mean that summer is half over!
Some member news: Mike, Nancy and Sharon Rann will be moving to Arizona (like it isn’t hot enough here!) before the end of the month. Mike has a job transfer. Edna Walkup has had hip surgery and is at the Pennsylvania Campus of Ingham Medical. And Sandy and Mick Firestone are in Puerto Rico visiting her mother who has had a stroke.
Last night was church board meeting. A couple of things you might be interested in. The church ended the fiscal year in the black. Thank you for your continued generosity to our combined budget. We have also sponsored a student at Great Lakes Academy this past year. If you would like to assist in that project, please mark your tithe envelope “Student Aid” or “Worthy Student”.
Quote of the Week:
There is no chapter in our experience too dark for Him to read; there is no perplexity too difficult for Him to unravel. No calamity can befall the least of His children, no anxiety harass the soul, no joy cheer, no sincere prayer escape the lips, of which our heavenly Father is unobservant, or in which He takes no immediate interest. “He health the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3. The relations between God and each soul are as distinct and full as though there were not another soul upon the earth to share His watchcare, not another soul for whom He gave His beloved Son. {SC 100.1}
This Sabbath, Pastor David will be continuing in his series out of the book of Philippians. Join us for worship and fellowship!
See you tomorrow,
Mary

July 2nd, 2010 | Posted in Blog | Comments OffGood morning,
I was watching a documentary this week titled “The Spiritual Heritage of the US Capitol”. Many of the “Founding Fathers” were Christian and a number were ministers. Their correspondence showed how much they relied on God’s guidance in the founding of our country. As we celebrate the Fourth of July let us be thankful for God’s guidance in the affairs of our great Country.
Please keep Lyn White in our prayers. Many of you remember her when she and Ryan along with their boys attended. Cards may be sent to: 234 Chanticleer Tr, Lansing MI 48917
The Sunday morning prayer service will be from 7-8 am in the Sanctuary. And then 8-9 am we will move a Sabbath School room downstairs.
Join us for fellowship meal immediately following the worship service.
Pastor Davids Quote of the Week:
There is nothing that can prevent us from lifting up our hearts in the spirit of earnest prayer. In the crowds of the street, in the midst of a business engagement, we may send up a petition to God and plead for divine guidance, as did Nehemiah when he made his request before King Artaxerxes. A closet of communion may be found wherever we are. We should have the door of the heart open continually and our invitation going up that Jesus may come and abide as a heavenly guest in the soul. {SC 99.1}
Pastor David will be speaking this Sabbath. He will be beginning a new summer series of messages on the book of Phillipians. Join us for worship and fellowship!
See you tomorrow,
Mary
