“Dear E. Lansing Family:

Thank you so much for remembering Valera’s birthday.  She got so many card and a few packages in the mail.  She says she wants to go back to Michigan because she misses everybody and the health food store.  Goran misses everybody and the ABC.  Thank God we are doing well.   We are doing a lot of missionary work, specially Goran is working hard in God’s work.  My job is interesting, it is actually the kind of job I dreamed of having.  The weather is the kind of weather I also prayed for and the Ocean is certainly what I always wanted, with warm water that you could swim in all day.  I can also garden all year round, and that is something that I also asked God for.  So I cannot complain, because God answered my prayer.  Goran feels hot most of the time and Valera really misses all the people at church and of course she misses the health food store.  There is a lot of work to do here.  Most people are very superstitious and held in bondage to the ’spirits of their ancestors’.    Thanks to God we are healthy and safe.  We are really missing Michigan camp meeting, the good potlucks at church, the brotherly love, good sermons and the loving fellowship in the E. Lansing SDA church.  God is really working through and in the E.Lansing church, we were nurtured and we feel that we have grown closer to God because of our experience there.  Please keep us in your prayers and keep this place in mind when looking for a place to be a missionary.  This place needs teachers, eye doctors, dentist, doctors…  It is very hard to get people here because it is so far away.  Specially, we would like to have consecrated school teachers as most students are not SDA and the student missionary teachers that come are often very worldly and that decreases the students change to know Jesus and be in heaven.

Thank you again for remembering Valera’s birthday.  She felt very special and loved.

God bless you all,

Marisol, Goran and Valera”

Quote of the Week:

All who consecrate soul, body, and spirit to God will be constantly receiving a new endowment of physical and mental power. The inexhaustible supplies of heaven are at their command. Christ gives them the breath of His own spirit, the life of His own life. The Holy Spirit puts forth its highest energies to work in heart and mind. The grace of God enlarges and multiplies their faculties, and every perfection of the divine nature comes to their assistance in the work of saving souls. Through co-operation with Christ they are complete in Him, and in their human weakness they are enabled to do the deeds of Omnipotence.  {DA 827.3}

As it is the first Sabbath of the month, we will be having fellowship dinner immediately following the church service. Join us for food and fellowship!

We will be having a baptism this Sabbath during our church service. Elder Gallimore has been studying with Lindsay Huddleston and Lindsay has decided to join the East Lansing Church. Elder Gallimore will be baptizing Lindsay during the worship service this Sabbath. We praise the Lord for Lindsay’s commitment!

Due to Camp Meeting, for two Sabbaths, June 12th and 19th, we will not be having Sabbath School. Our worship service will begin at 10 am. There will also be no Mid-week study on June 16th.

From the treasurer:  For members that will not be in town during Camp Meeting, you can mail your tithe and offerings to 4715 Jade Stone Drive, Williamston, MI  48895 or drop off at the church office.  June 30 is the end of our fiscal year so Combined Budget offerings are important this month.

Monday, June 21, 6pm - Card Making Party. Bring a friend. Develop a card making/sending ministry while having fun and being creative.  RSVP to Jesusa for questions regarding costs for cards – 663-1633

We praise the Lord for Jeff Brandon’s graduation from high school! Be sure to congratulate him when you see him!

Let us continue to keep Edna Walkup in prayer as she is in Sparrow hospital and would love visitors.  And let us also remember Barbara Marchello is recovering from surgery. Continue to keep the Bellas family in your prayers as they face immigration challenges.

There will be a Vespers Concert by Kim Purvis and Friends next Sabbath,  June 5  at  6pm, followed by a farewell reception in the gymnasium.  The Purvis family will be leaving in June for Alaska, where Pr Purvis will be the new Vice President-Secretariat of the Alaska Conference of SDA.

Quote of the Week:

Yet this was but the beginning of His wonderful condescension. It would have been an almost infinite humiliation for the Son of God to take man’s nature, even when Adam stood in his innocence in Eden. But Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by four thousand years of sin. Like every child of Adam He accepted the results of the working of the great law of heredity. What these results were is shown in the history of His earthly ancestors. He came with such a heredity to share our sorrows and temptations, and to give us the example of a sinless life.  {DA 48.5}

Pastor Shin will be speaking this Sabbath. Join us for worship and fellowship!

Good morning everyone,

The number of Memorial Day parades is dwindling  every year. This year, Mason has decided that they do not have enough organizers for the parade. Today it seems as though Memorial Day has just become the beginning of summer. A time to go up north, have a cookout or run a marathon. There are some that still decorate graves Meijer still sells those hideous plastic flowers! Memorial Day used to be the day to plant flowers in the cemetery, clean up the monuments to past wars and remember our fallen. Whatever you are doing this weekend hope you have a relaxing time.

Jeff Brandon will be graduating from Laingsburg High School in the next week or so, His picture was in the Lansing State Journal for “Great Grads”. Please congratulate him the next time you see him!

Quote of the week:

The King of glory stooped low to take humanity. Rude and forbidding were His earthly surroundings. His glory was veiled, that the majesty of His outward form might not become an object of attraction. He shunned all outward display. Riches, worldly honor, and human greatness can never save a soul from death: Jesus purposed that no attraction of an earthly nature should call men to His side. Only the beauty of heavenly truth must draw those who would follow Him. The character of the Messiah had long been foretold in prophecy, and He desired men to accept Him upon the testimony of the word of God. {DA 43.1)

Good morning,

I am so proud of our church! Of course because of our members but the church
itself is beautiful. So often I just come in the alley door and never go to the front
of the church. I was on the street side this week and the lawn and plantings just
look great. Even the house looks good!

That leads into this message from Robert Mosher who always does such a
beautiful job with the flowers behind the church, I am looking for flowers we can
transplant to the church. Need various types of Hostas, and Ferns for the front of
the church. Take a look around the church for what we all ready have in place,
and let me know if you have anything different. Also I am looking for wildflowers
that do well in shade. Please email me with a description of what you have.
Robert Mosher robertmosherl@comcast.net

A short note from Bill and Geri Wilson: We would like to thank everyone for your
cards, flowers and kind expressions of sympathy on the recent loss of our
beloved mother. Your kindness truly represents the spirit of hospitality within the
Seventh Day Adventist Church. May God richly bless you for your kindness.

This message came from Wilson Ndovie: I got a phone call from Barbara
Davidson letting me know that Edna was rushed back to Sparrow Hospital
Tuesday night when they noticed that she had a minor seizure. For the sake of
those who may not be aware, Edna was at Pines Nursing Home where she was
undergoing rehabilitation therapy after her hip surgery a few weeks ago.
Fortunately at Sparrow, when they run some tests, they ruled out that it was
stroke that caused her seizure. Yesterday she had an MRI scan but the results
are not yet out. We hope for the best. May we as a church family continue
praying for her, that she may heal quickly and more effectively.

Sabbath is a busy day! There will be the nursing home ministry this Sabbath at 2
pm. This ministry is so rewarding. Please come.

We will also be having a baby dedication this Sabbath. Miguel Gonzales,
Elizabeth BuWs nephew, will be dedicated.

There Will be a Singspiration at 6pm, Sabbath evening at the Lansing church.
Elizabeth Bull will be baptized this Sabbath (May 22) at 4 pm here at the
University Church. Join us as we celebrate her commitment to Christ.

Quote of the Week:
Make your work pleasant with songs of praise. If you would have a clean record
in the books of heaven, never fret or scold. Let your daily prayer be, “Lord, teach
me to do my best. Teach me how to do better work. Give me energy and
cheerfulness”. Bring Christ into all that you do. Then your lives will be filled
with brightness and thanksgiving.. . . Let us do our best, moving forward
cheerfully in the service of the Lord, with our hearts filled with His joy. {CG
148.2}

Join us this Sabbath as Pastor David speaks on part II of his message from last
week: ”Who needs the Lines?”.

See you tomorrow,

Mary
