Good morning everyone,

Quite a week of weather!  All the pictures from Washington DC are scarry to me.  When Steve and I were first married we lived in the District for 2 years.  It snowed once.  I started out for work because, well I’m from Michigan.  However I soon turned around – those people are dangerous!

I received the following message from Valrie Brooks:  “Can you imagine a Jamaican getting stuck in the snow?  Well that’s what happened to me.  I was about to cry (oh where is my faith) when a lady came over and assisted me.  She was my “angel”.  One morning I smiled and waved to this same lady; she waved back, but the look on her face was “where do I know her from?  I was happy that I had smiled and waved to her that morning.  It did not cost me to wave or smile.”

Bette Bertochini will undergo surgery on Friday Morning at 7:00.   Please remember her in your prayers.  Also Kevin Brooks,II will be having some tests done on his left kidney on Monday, the 15th.  Marlene Hawley’s son is also back in the hospital. We need your prayerful support.

There will be Sabbath Vespers tomorrow at 5:00 pm at the Lansing SDA Church.  David Asscherick, Director of ARISE Institute in Central California, international speaker and evangelist presents this powerful ever-timely message by DVD.  You won’t want to miss it.  Come, bring your friends and family and be encouraged!

On February 27th which is African-Caribbean Sabbath, there will be an International Lunch/ Potluck after the church service. The committee organizing the event are anticipating many visitors.  They ask that our church family be generous and prepare extra food.  Many have signed up indicating what dishes they will be bringing. To sign up: Please contact coordinator Zo Mcunu (517) 420 8442 or via email zodwamcunu@aol.com or in person ;-)

The committe would like to encourage everybody to be in their traditional dress! Who said church should be boring?!? It’s gonna be very interesting to see all those colorful outfits from countries all over the world!

Also, this message from Valrie on the prayer groups:  “The prayer group is still not settled on the prayer meeting time, based on the meeting last Sabbath.  I am rejoicing, however, because we now have the opportunity of going to either of three prayer meetings.  It is a blessing, and we should count it all joy that we are able to have three prayer meetings in our wonderful church.  If you cannot make it to the one at 9:30, why not make it at 11:15 in Pat Bodi’s Sabbath School cozy room; if you still cannot make it to those mentioned, why not make it on Sundays between 4 and 6 in the morning.  Last week’s was a blessing!!!”

If you have any events being planned at the church please make sure that connect with Pastor David to make sure there aren’t any conflicts on the church calendar of events. The church calendar is reviewed and discussed at every board meeting.

Our ASF students will be away at a Campus Spring Retreat this Sabbath.  Women’s Ministries will have the Sabbath School program.

quote of the week:

God regards us as His children. He has redeemed us out of the careless world and has chosen us to become members of the royal family, sons and daughters of the heavenly King. He invites us to trust in Him with a trust deeper and stronger than that of a child in his earthly father. Parents love their children, but the love of God is larger, broader, deeper, than human love can possibly be. It is immeasurable. Then if earthly parents know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more shall our Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?  {COL 142.1

This Sabbath Pastor David will continue his series of message from the Sermon on the Mount. Join us for worship and fellowship!

See you tomorrow,
Mary
