Good morning,

Have you noticed the days getting longer?  I know that February is usually very dreary, with short days.  But Thursday I had to dig out my sunglasses in the afternoon!  And the lengthening days give us hope for spring!  I often think of spring and how like the promise of salvation – a renewing of life - it is.

Pastor David’s maternal grandmother passed away Thursday morning at 8:05 am. She had been failing in health for the past year and now is resting in Jesus. Her funeral will be next Friday – to give extended family enough time to be there in California. Pastor David and Tennille will be there next weekend to be with family. She’s resting in Jesus and we await the beauty of the resurrection.

Please join us at Lansing SDA Church for Vespers this Sabbath, Feb 20 @ 5:30 as Dane shares his powerful experience of these past months with us.  Flexing Faith’s Fibers  with Dane Griffin.   Sounds easy enough. Faith. Everyone knows about it. Everyone’s used it at least once in a prayer. But what is faith all about anyway? Facing death teaches you a lot about faith. And how to grow it.  Is your faith strong enough for the crisis that’s coming? I thought mine was, until….

Don’t forget that next week is the African-Caribean Sabbath.  This is always a special celebration.  Zo Mcunu is in charge of the potluck meal.  The church family has been asked to bring more than usual to accomodate our guests.   To sign up: Please contact coordinator Zo Mcunu (517) 420 8442 or via email zodwamcunu@aol.com.  The committee would like to encourage everybody to come in their traditional attires!  Our own Kebede Daka will be the speaker.

Exercise classes start this Sunday at the community service center with Kettlebells at 8:30am, and running or racewalking classes at 9:00am.  If you would like to be a part of this group to get Fit for Him in 2010, please email cstephan1971@att.net to receive updates on classes and locations.

Sophie Philador’s baptism will be this Sabbath afternoon at 3:30 pm. Join us as we celebrate her new birth!

Quote of the Week:

Look not to self, but to Christ. He who healed the sick and cast out demons when He walked among men is still the same mighty Redeemer. Then grasp His promises as leaves from the tree of life: “Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37. As you come to Him, believe that He accepts you, because He has promised. You can never perish while you do this–never.  {MH 65.3}

This Sabbath Pastor David will continue his series of message from the Sermon on the Mount. Join us for worship and fellowship!

See you Sabbath,
Mary
