February 26th, 2010 | Posted in Blog | Comments OffGood morning everyone,
This week we celebrate African-Caribbean Sabbath. The diversity within the University Church has always been one of our strengths. Since Steve and I have been members we have worshipped with members from Australia, Russia, China, Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico and many of the nations of Africa and the Caribbean. This has enriched our lives beyond measure.
Don’t forget those on our prayer list.
The Healthy Supper Club will meet next Thursday, March 4th at 6:00 pm. Gary Heilig will be the speaker.
Pastor David and Tennille are in California for the funeral service of David’s grandmother.
Laura Bentley will be baptized on March 6th at 2:30 pm after the fellowship meal. Some of you may know her son Alex Mason – who is the head elder of the Williamston Church. Her story is remarkable – she came to our evangelistic series at the Williamston church and has made her decision to be baptized. Praise to the Lord!
“On Sabbath March 6th the Religious Liberty sermon “Go in the Strength You Have”, presented by Dr. Bruce N. Cameron, and bonus feature “Stand UP for Liberty”, presented by Liberty Magazine Editor Lincoln Steed will be shown by DVD in the Conference Room at 3:30 after the baptism. One attendee will receive a free year’s subscription to Liberty Magazine donated by a church member. The program will last about one hour. Let’s all try to remember to support Religious Liberty.
Women’s Ministry is sponsoring the Intergenerational Card Making Party this Sunday, February 28 at the church from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Lunch will be served at 1:30 and the card making will start at 2pm. Discover your creative self! Rhonda will be our expert teacher and we will make 5 beautiful and useful cards (birthday, sympathy, etc.) She will bring all of the supplies we need. There will be a $5 charge which will be waived if you purchase $25 of card making supplies. Laura, Jesusa and Elvie have been to the parties and have enjoyed the activity. We will have a brief introduction of each attendee so we can get to know each other better. Come, bring a friend and plan to have a fun
The Sabbath School program this week will focus on Steps to Christ and how it is still one of the best evangelistic tools.
Quote of the Week:
All who consecrate soul, body, and spirit to God will be constantly receiving a new endowment of physical and mental power. The inexhaustible supplies of heaven are at their command. Christ gives them the breath of His own spirit, the life of His own life. The Holy Spirit puts forth its highest energies to work in heart and mind. The grace of God enlarges and multiplies their faculties, and every perfection of the divine nature comes to their assistance in the work of saving souls. Through co-operation with Christ they are complete in Him, and in their human weakness they are enabled to do the deeds of Omnipotence. {DA 827.3}
Join us this Sabbath for a wonderful African/Caribbean Sabbath with choral music and a celebration of culture and diversity at the University Church! We will be having a exquisite international meal immediately following church service in the fellowship hall! There will be a Sabbath afternoon program starting at 2:30pm. It will have a variety of activities ranging from Children’s choir, Adult choir, skit, poems, testimonies and more music – Eder DeLacruz will be the Master of Ceremonies. We are looking forward to an inspiring and uplifting day on Sabbath. Join us!
See you tomorrow,
Mary
