Good morning,

No football game this week.  But still come at 9:45 for Sabbath School. The general Sabbath School time this week will be presented by personal ministries. Come and see some new evangelism tools that can be used to reach your friends, and hear a story about one of our church members who is trying to use her talents to reach others.

The stock markets have tanked in the last month and the economy is just horrid.  If you find yourself in need of a little assistance, there is a food pantry in the Fellowship Room.  It is located on the stage.  Please be conscious of others but take what you need.

As many of you know, Bryant Maroney has started part time at the church.  He will be giving Bible studies and has just updated our website and given it a new facelift. Check back often for calendar of events, sermon podcasts, sunset calendar, and more!   www.universitysda.com

Knitting/Crocheting Circle Sunday October 16 3:00PM Fellowship Hall University SDA Church.  Come knit or crochet. We will also have a basic knitting lesson. Come learn how to knit or crochet a dishcloth with a twist. Some practice yarn and snacks will be provided. All are welcome, even if you can’t stitch a snitch! Contact Sharon Boyce (sharon.boyce@gmail.com) or Leanne Heilig (lheilig2@gmail.com) with any questions and a list of supplies.

We will be having vespers this Sabbath evening at 6:30pm at Valerie Bellas’ house. Her address is: 2922 Cooley Drive, Lansing, 48911 ph#: 517-507-2424 Join us!

There will be a AY meeting tomorrow at 2:00 at the church.

Health Ministries is planning a lunch and walk for this Sabbath, October 8. Starting here at church with lunch, soups, crackers, and bread will be provided. Please bring sandwiches or fruit to share if you plan to join us. Following lunch, we will travel to Fenner Park for family walk, so bring your walking clothes/shoes to church. Invite your friends and neighbors to join us.

Our “Church Budget” offering supports our mortgage, monthly utilities, Sabbath School, evangelism and many other functions of our local church.  We will be holding a lecture series on the campus of Michigan State University this November and our church budget offerings go to support these ventures as well as other ministries of our beloved church. If you would like to give specifically to support our University church, be sure to mark the line “Church budget” in the offering envelope. Thank you for partnering with the Lord to fulfill the gospel commission to our local community!

Quote of the Week:

“Not a sigh is breathed, not a pain felt, not a grief pierces the soul, but the throb vibrates to the Father’s heart. . . . God is bending from His throne to hear the cry of the oppressed. To every sincere prayer He answers, “Here am I.” He uplifts the distressed and downtrodden. In all our afflictions He is afflicted. In every temptation and every trial the Angel of His presence is near to deliver.” –The Desire of Ages, p. 356.

Pastor David will be speaking this Sabbath. Join us for worship and fellowship!

Blessings,

Mary
